  • The Application of Thoracoabdominal Effusion Cell Block Technology in Tumor Origin Diagnosis and Gene Detection of Lung Adenocarcinoma

Min Jiang, Fei Liang, Xiao-Jun Ren, Xiu-Yan Zheng, Huan Li, Yu-Qian Zhang

Thoracoabdominal effusion cell block technology is an effective method for cell preservation and fixation, widely used in tumor origin diagnosis and gene detection of lung adenocarcinoma. Based on the principle of cell block fixation, this technology involves collecting cells from thoracoabdominal effusions, followed by centrifugation, fixation, and tissue embedding steps to prepare cell blocks. During diagnosis, pathological analysis of the cell blocks can be performed using techniques such as microscopy, immunohistochemistry, and fluorescence in situ hybridization, aiding in determining the origin of tumors. In lung adenocarcinoma gene detection, thoracoabdominal effusion cell block technology provides a minimally invasive and efficient pathway for genetic testing, helping to understand tumor molecular characteristics, predict treatment responses, and guide personalized therapy. Although this technology has some limitations, with continuous improvement and development, its application prospects in clinical diagnosis and treatment are promising.

  • Assessment of the Diagnostic and Prognostic Efficacy of Combined Detection of Serum Tumor Markers in Patients with Lung Cancer

Xiu-Qin Chang, Xiao-Mei Hai, Jing Liu

Objective: To analyze the application effectiveness of combined detection of serum tumor markers (TM) in lung cancer. Methods: Forty cases of lung cancer patients admitted in recent years were included in the observation group A, 50 cases of patients with benign lung lesions were included in observation group B,and 55 cases of healthy examinees during the same period were included in the control group. TM was tested in all three groups, and the diagnostic efficacy was compared. Results: The levels of CYFRA21-1, CA125, NSE,SCC, and CEA in the control group, observation group B, and group A showed an increasing trend (P < 0.05);the positivity rates of CYFRA21-1 and SCC were the highest in squamous cell carcinoma, while the positivity rates of CA125 and CEA were the highest in adenocarcinoma, and the positivity rate of NSE was the highest in small cell lung cancer (P < 0.05). The accuracy and sensitivity of the five-item combined test were higher, and the specificity of CYFRA21-1 test was higher (P < 0.05). Conclusion: When clinically examining lung cancer, combined detection of TM can effectively detect lung cancer with high diagnostic efficacy, which has promotional value.

  • Ethical Considerations of Palliative Care for Advanced Cancer

    Nan Guo

With the global aging population and lifestyle changes, the incidence of malignant tumors continues to rise, making it one of the major threats to human health. Currently, clinical treatments for malignant tumors mainly include surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, among others, which can effectively control the progression of the disease. However, compared to early-stage tumor patients, the possibility of cure for late-stage tumor patients is relatively low. Therefore, palliative care has become a commonly used treatment modality in clinical practice. Palliative care is a comprehensive treatment method aimed at improving the quality of life of late-stage tumor patients. It not only focuses on the patient's pathological condition but also emphasizes the treatment of the patient's emotions and psychology. From the perspective of bioethics, the main focus of palliative care is the dignity of the patient, providing full care and alleviating pain caused by the disease in the ¿ nal stage of life, thereby improving their quality of life. Therefore, this article explores the ethics of palliative care for late-stage tumors.
